Knee pain is stressful and tricky. Some people find that when they are working out and exercising they feel a dull pain developing in their knee area. Pain is a common problem among many people, and there are different reasons for the occurrence of pain in the knee for different people.

If You Feel Pain When You Are Working Out

If you feel pain when you are working out in the gym, jogging, or walking up the steps the pain could be related to the alignment of the knees. The knees always have to be positioned over the toes when the knees are bent, but they should never extend beyond the toes.

If the knees are bent too far over the toes in a lunge or bent position they can pull the knee caps out of alignment and cause pain. Make sure to check the positioning and angle of your knees during exercise or it could result in permanent damage.

Some people also feel pain in their knees that is due to joint stiffness or arthritis and this problem usually occurs in older people. Luckily there are vitamin supplements that can be taken to lubricate the joints so that they can move freely and ease some of the discomfort. Glucosamine and/or chondroitin can be purchased at the drugstore and taken orally.

Glucosamine works to ease the pain because it slows the breakdown of cartilage in the knee and stimulates the growth of new cartilage. Glucosamine and chondroitin can be taken by both athletes that have over used their knees and by people suffering from arthritic pain.

In Addition To Taking Supplements

In addition to taking supplements knee braces and knee supports can also be worn to ease knee pain. Some knee braces are bulkier and include straps that can not fit under tight pants. For less severe pain there are also lightweight knee supports that fit just like a second skin.

They help to support the knee and can fit right underneath pants. This type of support can be worn on a daily basis to help ease the pain of climbing steps and it can be worn by athletes during workouts to prevent any further injury.
