Genital Hair Removal

Genital hair removal is a very common practice in today's society for both men and women. There are many different ways to remove the hair from your privates, including waxing, shaving, creams, lotions, and electrolysis. No matter what method you choose, make sure that you are capable of performing the task yourself, and that you are properly taking care of the area so you don’t damage that very sensitive skin.

Shaving

Shaving is probably the most common method of hair removal. When shaving your genitals, you need to be extra careful to prevent razor burn. Never use a dull razor, and always use a shaving cream or protective lotion, don’t dry shave. Also get into the warm tub or bath and shave your private area last so that your skin is softer, and the hair follicles are open allowing you to get a closer, cleaner, less agitated shave. Shave in the direction of your hair, not against it. Also make sure that you are careful not to cut or scrape yourself, because this can be very uncomfortable and being on your private area will be harder to heal.

Waxing

Waxing is becoming more popular for both and women to use on there genitals. Many salons, spas, and hair care facilities offer the services. Although it can be pricey, it will last longer than shaving, give you a smooth clean surface, and you won’t miss any spots. It is can be painful the first time so I would recommend taking a pain reliever before you go.

Creams And Lotions

Creams and lotions such as Nair or Veet are also alternatives to the razor, and the results are known to last normally from about 4-7 days. You apply the lotion or cream to the areas that you want the hair to be removed from and allow it to sit for the allotted amount of time. After it sits, you can get into the shower and rinse it off. If you have sensitive skin or a lot of allergies they do make versions that tend to your hygienic needs.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is the removal of the hair with a electricity. It is considered a procedure and can be very expensive. Although the results are almost permanent, most people don’t get it don’t on their genitals. You have to see someone who specializes in it and I would compare around prices. Genital hair removal is a personal choice. Try a few of the different methods above and pick which one works best for you, and one that is the most practical for your lifestyle.
