The Best Hair Loss Products: Myth Or Magic?
The Best Hair loss products are made for men and women of all ages, hair loss can be a devastating problem. Loss of hair can contribute to loss of self-confidence and a sense of physical attractiveness, keeping a person from living up to his or her full potential.
Hair loss can occur at any time in a person's life, for virtually any reason; illness, stress, anxiety, hormone changes, malnutrition, or hair and scalp conditions. The question is, what is the best hair loss product out there, and do they really work?
There are a number of remedies on the market today to help combat the ravages of hair loss. Solutions come in every imaginable format, from pills and creams to injections and vitamins. Unfortunately, most products on the market today not only have no scientific basis behind the claim to treat hair loss, but can exacerbate the problem. Countless shampoos, conditioners, and hair treatments promise fuller, thicker hair, but the truth is, there's little truth in the advertising.
While some products may successfully help create the illusion of thicker hair, only one drug has been tested and approved by the FDA for having a scientifically proven potential to regrow hair. The drug Minoxidil, found in medicated products such as Rogaine, is the only scientifically proven medication to aid in the regrowth of hair in both men and women.
While Rogaine is the most commonly used medication to grow new hair, Propecia is the best for stopping hair loss in men who are simply losing hair due to aging. It works by stemming the production of dihydrotestosterone, a hormone that causes hair follicles to shrink, and eventually die. Propecia is FDA approved, but only for men who meet certain criteria.
Both Rogaine and Propecia are by no means miracle cures. Both products have overall success rates of 40-60%, and can take months before you see a noticeable effect. Of course, both products only work as long as you're using the drug; if you stop use of the product, even briefly, results will stop, making these products lifelong additions to the medicine cabinet.
In short, there is no miracle cure for hair loss, short of hair grafting procedures which may be both expensive and painful, but offer much more conclusive, lasting results. When all is said and done, the best hair loss products are those that offer results, and fit into your budget and lifestyle.
